Not impressed
After driving an hour to get to Count Basie I was looking forward to a great show. The theater is nice, small and accessible. I never saw DSO but have seen The Dead many many times, starting in 77. Once the show started everyone stood. Including two huge men two rows in front of me. They stood the whole time , so basically the people behind them and myself and wife just saw their backs. After driving an hour I’m not going to stand for another 3 , unless the show is exceptional. It wasn’t. It got smokey and warm, and the set list was meh. We left after 45 minutes an hour. DSO seems like a band for people who never saw The Dead. Like hey I’m Bobby, hey I’m Jerry. It seemed most people were there for the experience, not the music. Are they decent musicians, yes. But I won’t be going back to see them play.
